Taking the storm into my own hands–2025

This year… already feels different.
Not just because the world keeps shifting—but because I am shifting.

2025 came in loud!  Life doesn’t ask for permission when it wants to change. And yet, here I am—Black, veteran, woman, wife, mother—still standing, still hoping, still pushing through.

I carry a lot. I carry love. I carry trauma. I carry strength that too often feels like silence. I carry hope that sometimes hides beneath exhaustion. But this year, I’m choosing something new.

I’m choosing to take control of what I can.

That means protecting my peace.
Showing up for myself.
Being honest about the hard days.
Being gentle when the weight gets heavy.
Letting go of isolation and building the support I need.

It’s not about perfection. It’s about surviving this year with grace, healing, truth—and maybe even finding some laughter.
It’s about me creating a space where I am safe, seen, soft, and strong.

I can’t do it all. And I am realizing I don’t have to.
But I can try.
I can hope.
I can heal.
One step. One breath. One storm at a time.

So here’s to trusting the process, even when it’s messy.
Here’s to showing up raw and real.
Here’s to taking the storm into my own hands.

Let’s be real.
Let’s be kind.
Let’s keep going.
